Meal Prepping Tips & Tricks

Meal prepping can be a real time saver and can help you stay on track with your nutrition goals. But tackling a whole week’s worth of meals at once can be intimating and overwhelming. With these four tips, you’ll be ready to meal prep your way to success, without the stress & feelings of overwhelm!

1.  Choose 2-3 recipes you know you’ll like

This step is probably the most important because (1) there’s nothing worse than spending time cooking a new meal, for multiple days, and then finding out you don’t like it.. talk about disappointing!

Just choosing 2 to 3 recipes will add enough variety to your week, so you aren’t stuck eating the same thing for 7 days straight (boring), but you’re also not overwhelmed trying to prepare too many different meals

2.  Prepare a few staples for your carbs, proteins, and veggies

Choose 2-3 staples of each category above to be able to mix and match each meal for something a little different.

For example, if you choose to make rice, quinoa, chicken, fish, spinach, broccoli and carrots. You could one night eat rice with fish and broccoli, and then chicken, rice, and spinach for lunch. Tons of possibilities & meal combos without all the stress!

3.  Spice it up!

Bland meals are boring. Spice it up with spices & herbs! You can literally take the exact same and make them taste completely different by using different spices and herbs. Check out the list of different spices and herbs to jazz up your meals!

4.  There’s no right or wrong way to meal prep

Just remember that there’s no right or wrong way to meal prep. If prepping for the entire week is too much or overwhelming, or you simply don’t want to spend a few hours on one given day to prep, prep for a few days at a time. See if that works better for you. Or maybe prepping your lunches is better for you. Or maybe your breakfasts or snacks.

Meal prepping is just meant to be another tool that you can add to your tool belt. Meal prepping can be great for those who don’t like cooking when they get home after work, those who want to change their diet, or those who like to plan!
