Rest, Relaxation, and Sleep

Resting is actually a productive thing for you to do!

If you are someone who’s always “go go go”, you often are fighting your body’s natural need to slow down & recharge

Sleep is the time for our bodies to repair themselves; to recharge; and to get ready for the day ahead!

Time Spent Outside

Spending time outside is beneficial to our mental health & can help us reduce stress

It can also improve your mood, as well as your self-esteem

Other benefits include:

  • promoting an active & healthy lifestyle

  • reducing stress, muscle tension, cortisol levels, & heart rates

  • improved energy levels

  • lowers risk of depression

  • faster physiological stress recovery

  • increases your focus & attention

Movement

Our bodies are MEANT to move!

By now, you know I am I big proponent of daily movement

That might seem overwhelming, but if reframe the thought of “exercising every day” to simply “moving every day”, it might be less daunting!

And besides, just a few minutes of movement here & there - like getting up from your desk every hour or stretching for a few minute when you wake up - really add up & can provide the same benefits!

Nutrition

Often time, people say nutrition is what they struggle with the most..

But it doesn’t have to be complicated!

Just follow these few guidelines & see what a difference it can make:

  • choose nutrient-dense food (fancy way of saying food high in macronutrients & micronutrients)

    • read more about CARBS here

    • read more about FATS here

    • read more about PROTEIN here

  • try to avoid or limit fried foods

  • limit alcohol consumption (recommended drinks are no more than 1/day for females & 2/day for males)

  • drink plenty of water (minimum of half your weight in ounces!)

  • make sure you’re eating the appropriate amount for your goals & lifestyle

Joy

More joy, or less stress, is not just better for your mental health, but also your physical health as well!

Experiencing more joy in your life can lead to:

  • better blood pressure readings

  • lower cholesterol readings

  • lesser chance of a heart attack

  • better stress management

What little things can you do throughout the day that spark joy?

Maybe drink your favorite cup of coffee in the morning, unwind with a nice book, or simply playing with your kids!

What surprising thing have you noticed that has impacted your health?
